WordCamp Seattle 2013 By the Numbers

Dear Community Members,

We’re excited to be able to publish the infographic below, which contains data regarding the community involved in WordCamp Seattle 2013. With recent discussions around gender equality, diversity and inclusiveness within the technology community, we are excited to make this data available in hopes of continued thoughtful, well informed conversations.

Similar to the Philosophy of WordPress itself, this organizing group feels strongly that the Seattle WordPress community should be open and inclusive to EVERYONE, regardless of race, gender, financial status, creed, sexual orientation, location, or any other characteristic.

As an organizing group we hope publishing this information will help contribute to further communication around how we can make our community more inclusive, both here in Seattle and beyond.

We look forward to working with the community to organize an amazing WordCamp in June.

All our best,
Grant, Ben & Bryan

Hey Mollie, I think that 40% number is so awesome (and I don’t use that word much). Love seeing that number continue to grow in the WordPress community!

Great job on the infographic and love seeing the demographics visually like this. Very cool.

As organizer of 2012 we did have a smaller space so we had our limitations. And the quick sellout of tickets this year had to be only because everyone was still so excited from last year ๐Ÿ™‚

Cheers and look forward to seeing everyone in June.

Vegetarians are severely underrepresented . Outside of that, I felt when I started using WordPress that it was the right decision. Now I see the worldwide embrace and know 100% that it was the right decision.

This is really cool to see. In my blogging world, I’m used to working with mostly women (pet blogging) so it’s impressive to see the men being represented here. Really love seeing so many local speakers.

This is going to be amazing!
